1 Introductions, apologies, substitutions and declarations of interest
1.1 The Chair welcomed Members to the meeting of the Children, Young People and Education Committee.
1.2 Apologies were received from Buffy
Williams MS, there was no substitute.
2 Scrutiny of Qualifications Wales Annual Report 2021 - 2022
2.1 The Committee scrutinised Qualifications Wales on its Annual Report.
2.2 The Chair agreed to send any unasked
questions for a written response.
3 Papers to note
3.1 The papers were noted.
4 Motion under Standing Order 17.42(ix) to resolve to exclude the public from the remainder of this meeting
4.1 The motion was agreed.
5 Mental Health support in Higher Education - consideration of the key issues
5.1 The Committee considered the key issues. A draft report would be considered at a future meeting.
6 Consideration of the Committee forward work programme
6.1 Members discussed the forward work
programme and agreed to write to the Welsh Government for updates
on various issues relating to learner travel; childcare workforce
and sexual abuse. They also agreed which areas they would like some
further scoping work to be carried out, which included access for
disabled children and young people; and on cost of living.
7 Committee activities - oral update
8.1 Due to time constraints this item was
postponed until the next meeting.
8 Briefing from Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research and Data (WISERD)
8.1 The Committee received a briefing from WISERD on the work they are carrying out on the multi cohort study of schools. They discussed ways that the Committee can be involved in this work.
